Robert
Wright - RIBI
Robert has
been a qualified pharmacist since 1969 and has spent the majority of his
professional life running his own pharmacies in
Blackpool. In 1998, he received an offer he
couldn't refuse and sold his business and took
early retirement. Not wishing to lose his
professional qualification, he still undertakes
locum duties at various pharmacies in the
area.

Robert joined the Rotary Club of
Blackpool Marton in 1985 and served as Club
President in 1993-94. His interest in District
1190 led him to hold various posts at District
level - Membership Services chairman, Club
Service chairman, Rotary Foundation committee
chairman - culminating in his election as
Governor in 2003-04.
He has a personal interest in
malaria prevention, having witnessed his uncle
Donald suffer recurrent attacks of Plasmodium
malariae after his internment in Japanese POW
camps on the Burma railway during World War II.
He believes that prevention is always better
than cure and has been a supporter of R.E.M.I.T.
(Rotarians Eliminating Malaria in Tanzania)
since its launch during his year as District
Governor and now REMaRAG.
